Pearl™ Product Family Scales Brightness with a 200 µm Core Fiber-Coupled Module

Vancouver, WA USA  January 16, 2008

40 W from 200 µm fiber now available with >50% efficiency

nLIGHT Corporation today announced another new addition to its Pearl™ Fiber-Coupled Module product family: a 200 µm module that achieves >50% electrical to optical efficiency. The Pearl™ product family is based on nLIGHT’s proprietary nXLT™ single emitter diodes rather than the 1 cm bar, resetting industry reliability and efficiency benchmarks for high-power fiber-coupled diode lasers, operating either CW and pulsed.

The latest offering achieves brightness improvements by coupling up to 40 W into a 200 µm core fiber with 0.22 NA at selected wavelengths from 795-980 nm. It is the most efficient high-power fiber laser pump on the market. It also enables industrial applications that demand high brightness. “We’ve just begun to scratch the surface of the Pearl™ platform capability. We have an exciting roadmap to introduce new fiber-coupled products with unprecedented combinations of power, brightness, efficiency and reliability”, noted Rob Martinsen, nLIGHT’s VP of Engineering. “Efficiency and reliability are the guiding design principles that differentiate the Pearl™ platform, ultimately enabling our OEM customers with valuable competitive advantage”.

nLIGHT will be showing this addition to the Pearl™ product family at the Photonics West Conference in San Jose January 22-24, 2008.
