nLIGHT Introduces element Fiber Coupled Diode Modules, Evolving Fiber Laser Competitiveness by Re-Setting Diode Pump Price Per Bright Watt Performance
VANCOUVER, Wash. USA February 5, 2013
nLIGHT Corporation (nLIGHT) today announced the launch of their new fiber coupled diode product line, element™. The new platform leverages optical design and performance from its predecessor Pearl™, element™ is designed to optimize cost and performance, delivering up to 58W from a 105 um fiber, in a package ~60% smaller than the Pearl platform, while re-setting the industry price point.
“To date, the merchant market has not fully served the fiber laser market with a cost-effective bright diode pump. Chip, package and manufacturing innovations have culminated in the element™ platform, which is optimized for brightness, cost, robustness and reliability,” said Michael Atchley, Sr. Product Line Manager at nLIGHT. “Fiber Lasers will continue to grow at a faster pace than the laser industry rate if they are enabled by compelling components like the element™. nLIGHT is committed to deliver the industry these highly differentiated components.”
The platform is initially targeted at fiber laser pumping, and leverages nLIGHT’s proprietary nXLT™ single emitter diodes for reliability and efficiency benchmarks. Designed to meet market requirements of higher power and brightness, lower cost and smaller form factor, the element™ delivers 2X output power with 58W from 105 um fiber with simplified design architecture.
The element™ platform offers the perfect solution for 100W to multi-kW fiber laser systems, resulting in the most competitive product offering of high brightness, fiber-coupled diodes in the industry today.
See the element™ at Photonics West 2013, February 5 – 7, 2013, at the nLIGHT booth in the South Hall, Booth #1939.
