Data Architect

Enable the transformation of nLIGHT’s data and business systems within a rapidly growing and dynamic business environment.  Requires the creation of customize solutions to seamlessly interface many internally as well as externally developed applications.   The preferred candidate will be highly motivated with an excellent track record of performance and innovation in turning data into information.  Additionally, experienced with setting direction for an organization, working in ambiguous environments as well as working independently.

Functions

  • Analyze databases, data collection systems, etc. to optimize efficiency and ensure data integrity
  • Identify data sources and work with CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) to automate collection processes
  • Formulate management techniques to ensure consistent quality data collection
  • Facilitate data extraction from multiple source and merge into a comprehensive data set either to on-site servers or cloud based environments
  • Work with engineering departmental managers to outline the specific data needs for each area to ensure global solutions
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and recommend maintenance or modifications
  • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in large complex data sets
  • Use statistical methods/tools to analyze data and generate reports that automatically update
  • Act as contributing member of the data warehousing team
  • Present information using data visualization techniques

 Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining, cloud based data management
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with SQL databases
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, Minitab, JMP, etc.)
  • Experienced programming in VBA and SQL, Python, Java or C# is an asset
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Attention to detail and an ability to absorb and assimilate information rapidly
  • Ability to coordinate efforts effectively across organizational boundaries
  • Excellent communication, listening and collaboration skills
  • Capacity to solve complex problems
  • Proven analytical skills desired (edge analytics or data analytics)
