Staff Accountant

Be part of a high-performance accounting team. Streamline existing accounting activities to enable future growth.  Collaborate with others to improve systems, reporting and controls.

You will be responsible for a variety of accounting and compliance functions and activities in support of nLIGHT’s expanding businesses in Vancouver, Washington and Hillsboro, Oregon, as well as international locations. You need to be a hands-on professional who will ensure proper accounting of business results as well as improve the quality of data on which decisions are made. We are seeking a self-starter with very high personal and professional values, attention to detail, strong work ethic and positive attitude.


  • Participate in the month-end close process for the US General Ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules in the FAS Software System; provide monthly detail for General Journal entries; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate completion of capital projects and provide general fixed asset support to business owners.
  • Support government contracting activities, including billing, revenue recognition and government audits.
  • Manage Company-wide credit card program and reporting. Audit Expensify expense reports to ensure compliance with nLIGHT Travel and Entertainment policy.
  • Support annual audit and tax requirements, including preparation of required materials.
  • Work on process improvement and system implementation projects as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Experience in manufacturing or high-tech industry preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX desired.
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP and ability to communicate accounting concepts.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Must enjoy problem solving, streamlining work, identifying areas for improvement and following through to drive related changes.
