The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing software applications used in the manufacture of high-power lasers as well as solving day-to-day problems to support nLight's engineering and manufacturing teams. This is a growth opportunity within the CIM group and is an ideal fit for a team-oriented, self-directed person with ambition and drive.


Create and manage software applications that are used to control and record the manufacture of high-power lasers.

  • Establish effective communication with other departments to ensure that requirements are understood and that projects are completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Create applications using C#.NET and SQL to increase automation of handling of manufacturing WIP data and associated engineering data
  • Follow software design standards including abstraction, design patterns, and change control
  • Thoroughly document software design, execution, and end-user instructions
  • Support nLight’s manufacturing groups’ use of existing applications.

This position will report to the CIM group lead and should be able to operate under light supervision and make independent decisions and judgments.


  • BS in Software Development or equivalent.
  • 2+ year developing software.
  • Direct experience programming with C#.NET, SQL, XML, JSON.
  • Communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with SECS/GEM standards.
  • Experience with production systems including MES/MOM, SPC, and Data Collection.
  • Experience creating and consuming RESTful and SOAP API’s.
