High Performance Lasers

Senior Accountant

Be part of a high-performance accounting team.  Streamline existing accounting activities to enable future growth.  Collaborate with others to improve systems, reporting and controls.

You will be responsible for a variety of corporate accounting and reporting functions and activities in support of nLIGHT’s expanding businesses in Vancouver, Washington and Hillsboro, Oregon, as well as international locations in China, Finland and Korea. You need to be a hands-on professional who will ensure proper accounting of business results as well as improve the quality of data on which decisions are made. We are seeking a self-starter with very high personal and professional values, attention to detail, strong work ethic and positive attitude. 

Functions

  • Participate in the month-end close process for the US general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Coordinate world-wide revenue recognition activities, to ensure that underlying operational processes and practices are aligned with US GAAP requirements. Assist with the implementation of the new Revenue Recognition standard.
  • Research and document technical accounting topics. Monitor new accounting rules, analyze the impact on operations and reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze certain financial statements and footnote disclosures based on US GAAP.
  • Support annual audit and tax requirements, including preparation of required materials.
  • Prepare various financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Assist with the design and monitoring of business processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and maintain accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Work with the Controller and CFO on special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred. CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred.
  • Experience with revenue recognition in manufacturing or high-tech industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to communicate accounting concepts to management.
  • Ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions.
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel. Experience with data query tools is a plus.
  • Must enjoy problem solving, streamlining work, identifying areas for improvement and following through to drive related changes.
